C.P. Huntington Train
Enchanted Island's one-third replica C.P. Huntington Train was completed and installed in 1991 for the grand opening of the amusement park. It’s one of our most popular rides, offering guests a leisurely, seven-minute tour of the island.
The original C.P. Huntington tank-back steam engine played an important part in building the western segment of the first Trans-Continental Railroad. After serving faithfully for nearly 50 years, the "Little Iron Horse" was ordered demolished in 1914. Just as it was to be broken up, a hurried call from San Francisco ordered it rebuilt. It came out of the shop in time to be exhibited as Southern Pacific Railroad's pioneer locomotive. It last operated under its own steam in 1939 and is now on display at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento.
